For the first time in over two decades, the DMC World DJ Championships will be taking place outside of the United Kingdom. Although the UK had a proud tradition of hosting the DMC World DJ Championships on home turf, the retirement of founder Tony Prince from daily operations has meant the torch has been passed to his son, Dan Prince.
The move to host the 2023 Technics DMC World DJ Championships in San Francisco, USA is part of Dan’s vision to a reinvigorate the much-loved DJ competition following the pandemic years. This marks the first time that the grand event will take place on the West Coast in California. This will be only the second time that DMC World DJ Championships will be held in the USA, the first time being the famed 1999 DJ Battle in New York City. Although there have been countless successful DMC USA tours throughout the long history of the branch the 2023 Technics DMC World DJ Championships is a whole other level.

DMC USA’s “Battle Specialist” and recently appointed “DMC World Battle Organizer”, Christie Z,has played an integral part in organizing the move. The event will feature the DMC World DJ Championships but also an amazing line-up of headline performers including Dilated Peoples with their legendary turntablist, DJ Babu (Beat Junkies). Let us also not forget that San Francisco and the Bay Area is home to some of the most notorious Turntablists in history with additional headliners including Mix Master Mike (The Beastie Boys), the Invisibl Skratch Piklz (DJ Q-Bert, D-Styles, ShortKut). Japan’s DJ Kentaro and the UK’s Prime Cuts will also perform. All of these DJs are legendary in their own right.
